About The Event
Join us for the next two terms of Navigating Judaism: an introductory course on Jewish learning where we choose the theme!
Led by Rabbi Daniel, we will gather in community-members' homes and learn together about the following themes ...
Term 1: Introduction to Kabbalah
This course will approach Jewish mysticism in both theory and practice. We’ll begin with the history and development of mysticism - including exploring what mysticism is. The course will introduce two kabbalistic/chasidic meditative practices: the quieting practice of the Piecezno Rebbe, and the singing practice of Reb Nachman.
Dates: 21 January, 28 January
Term 2: Dying to be born - the Jewish lifecycle
We’ll consider the different stages in our lives - infancy, adolescence, adulthood and elderhood - by learning about the meaning and rituals that Jewish tradition has placed in them and to mark the transitions between them.
Dates: 11 February, 18 February, 25 February, 3 March
At the end of this term, the group will then choose the theme for the next term together.
